This book contains two novellas: 'Colonel Carter's Christmas' and 'The Romance of an Old-Fashioned Gentleman'. Both works were written by Francis Hopkinson Smith, who today is best-remembered for building the foundation in honor of the Statue of Liberty, as well as writing many stories and receiving awards for his paintings.
