Tar Heel Tales

Tar Heel Tales is a collection of eighteen fascinating short stories concerning all kinds of people and situations in North Carolina by H. E. C. Bryant, better known as Red Buck. Bryant visited every part of North Carolina and, in his travels over the state, resulted in several captivating stories of human interest, portraying life and nature as he found it. These dialectic tales present unique accounts of his travels, entertaining the reader with incredible illustrations of the place and the people he had met there, along with descriptions of his several experiences.

Red Buck traveled all over North Carolina and wrote human interest stories from every sand-hill and mountain cove. Many residents know him by no other name than Red Buck. Everyone in the state knew him as the big-hearted, red-haired Scotch-Irishman.
