A Great Success

'A Great Success' is a novel written by Mrs. Humphry Ward. The story begins by introducing us to Arthur and Doris Meadows, who are the owners of a house in South Kensington. One day, Arthur accidentally gives a taxi driver half a crown instead of the fare of one and twopence, causing the driver to think he's mad. Doris tries to retrieve the overpayment by running to the window, but the driver makes off quickly.
