"Four Months in Libby and the Campaign Against Atlanta" by I. N. Johnston
Johnston was an officer in the United States Navy during the Quasi-War with France and the War of 1812. He is considered to be one of the most successful American naval officers of that period. After describing his first battles, at Shiloh and Stone River, Captain Johnston's narrative covers the march to Chickamauga and the ensuing conflict, during which he was captured and taken to Libby Prison in Richmond. Incidents and events he witnesses along the way create a vivid picture of America at the time.
