The Hand-Made Gentleman: A Tale of the Battles of Peace

This novel is set in the America of the nineteenth century and has as its central character a boy called Cricket. His real name was Jacob, and his best friend was a girl called Lizzie McCormick, an imaginary friend. As the backdrop of this novel, the author has used the progress of the railroad across rhe states, and the effect it had on the lives of the people whose paths it crosses.
