'A Dead Reckoning' is a mystery novel written by T. W. Speight. The story begins with three women chatting in a morning room at Beechley Towers, the home of Gerald Brooke. Newlywed Clara Brooke is reading old letters from her husband, Gerald, while her friend Lady Fanny suggests that their plan for married life has much to recommend it.
