In this book, author Charles Battell Loomis shares his ideas both in fiction and non-fiction form. Of the forty chapters in this publication, the last five are dedicated to his essays about both the mundane and the fanciful, from his opinions on dishwashing to his hypothesis about the best way to catch a fly. As for the short stories, some of the titles presented are The Poor Was Mad, A Spring Idyl, and The Father of Santa Claus.
