The Purpose of History

This book contains three lectures that the author expanded into essays. These lectures were entitled the following: 'From History to Philosophy', 'The Pluralism of History', and 'The Continuity of History'. The writer of this book is Frederick James Eugene Woodbridge, a teacher at various American universities. Woodbridge considered himself a naïve realist, deeply impressed with Santayana.
