The Foundling; or, The Child of Providence

'The Foundling; or, The Child of Providence' is a two-act play written by J. Church. The story begins with a dialogue between two unnamed men, identified only as The Investigator and The Friendly. Although the conversation started easily, later we find that The Investigator is trying to uncover the truth about The Friendly, for his name has been mentioned positively and negatively, and there have been accusations of him being a vile miscreant and promoting licentious doctrines. At this, The Friendly just shrugs off the charges laid upon him.
